Description: Graphic Novel, Surreal Satire
This devilishly dark and humorous satire carves the tale of three greedy business men who, after a tragic plane accident, are doomed to spend eternity as death insurance sellers for the most corrupt of all corporations, Hell. After they break down their fiery cubicle walls and ultimately make their escape they find themselves thrown full circle to a place only slightly more comfortable than the previous surrounds.
Review quotes:
Aerni is free to send us straight into his wonderful vision of Hell at a speed far greater than the plane crash that kills his three doomed protagonists. It’s perfect, quick and extremely clever in all the right places, but it’s not the highlight. The real pleasure in Dead Business Men is naturally in its artwork. Even including the ever-widening world of webcomics, there’s really nothing to properly prepare you for Aerni’s character designs and his overall vision of the underworld. ~ Unlikely Stories
Author Comment:
I am a self taught artist. I have always been kind of put off by the idea of going to a school to learn how to do art.. Call me crazy but I believe the artist makes himself not the school. In my teenage years my art was heavily influenced by the work of Gottfried Helnwein. To this day I am still amazed on the amount of time and effort he puts into each piece and his desire to expose the truth no matter how unpopular it is. For the most part my work is a reflection of the darker side of society and human kind in general. I like to expose the primal thoughts, emotions and fears we all try to suppress and keep hidden. With each piece I try to provide a dark mystery the viewer must uncover. I do this because I feel like that is what makes life beautiful and interesting. ~ Justin Aerni
